Sports Marketing firm Baseline raises $4 million from US Venture Capitalist

MUMBAI: Baseline, a sports marketing and brand licensing firm, has raised $4 million from a US-based venture capitalist. The company is engaged in sports marketing services like sponsorships, media rights distributions, consultancy and licensing.

“Baseline is using the fund very judiciously to build sporting assets across few unique sports with a long term vision, buying media rights across sporting categories, setting up offices in South East Asia and hiring of passionate individuals to drive the business forward,” Tuhin Mishra, co-founder and MD of Baseline said in a press statement, adding that the US-based venture fund has a well-diversified portfolio in media, education and technology companies.

The company currently operates out of Singapore, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Los Angeles. Baseline has been co-founded by sports marketing specialists who worked together at Total Sports Asia.

Since its launch early this year, Baseline has tied-up with Toonz Media Group for licensing and merchandising it exclusively, represents top Badminton players K Srikanth and P V Sindhu, structured the team sponsorship of the West Indies cricket team with fashion brand Yepme at the ICC ODI 2015 World Cup, etc.

According to Mishra, the company works with sporting personalities, spa brands and lifestyle brands like Lamborghini Casa, Aston Martin, Mercedes Benz to create branded real estate renditions for the developers alongside areas of media rights distribution, sponsorship, licensing and consulting.
